One of the great things about Nashville Market is the opportunity to network with designers, shop owners and to take classes. I took four this year, beginning Temari Balls (oh my! another addiction), two fantastic finishing classes, and “The Harry Potter Generation: Ideas for Reaching Young Adults” facilitated by a wizard himself, Gary Lee Sligh, wizard at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
I’ve stitched for close to 40 years. I started with castles and geese and ducks and hearts and moved on to being a cross stitch designer. Low and behold – some of those things I started stitching are coming back into popularity. Castles. Magical creatures. (I haven’t seen any geese or ducks…..yet). I see lots of younger folks interested in stitching but I also see traditional needlwork stores dying. It’s a dichotomy that many designers and shop owners struggle with.
Gary’s talk really got me thinking in a new direction. Join with me as I work on creating new designs for a new set of stitchers!
